Last full day on the island before heading to Boston, and I’m starting the morning with a record I have to thank my teenage son for showing me.

This is a wonderful neo-soul #indie pop album with GREAT songs that are full of hooks, and incredible vocal performances by Dean.
I hear flashes of a bunch of different things in here that make the record not only comfortably classic and familiar, but also very fresh and new.

My son has been on a hot streak of showing me new music that I like. Between this and the Clairo album Charm, he’s batting .300 the last few months.
Angine De Poitrine was a big swing and a miss, though.

He knows now not to bring me anything where the artists are making boring music dressed like assholes.

It’s Tuesday with another belated birthday boy. Unknown Pleasures turned however old yesterday. It’s too early to do the math. This is the 40th anniversary press from 2019 with white sleeve and 180 gram clear red vinyl. It really has a good sound to it filling the house this morning.

Was more than happy to grab this downtown this morning.

Depeche Mode is one of those “singles” bands for me.
Apart from Songs Of Faith And Devotion, I never want to hear one of their albums front to back. However, I’ve always loved the singles a great deal, so this is a perfect companion to my vinyl copy of Songs of Faith And Devotion.
