Knowing how the album was made is interesting. Playing with the software is also very interesting to learn from. The production, the swarming of where you are being taken to.
I read in an interview the inspiration was as if you are in a dentists waiting room, with things playing & the noises happening.

From hearing it when it first came out & we got it in shop, to now. It’s got this ear worm quality too it that you can’t shake & you can’t help but shake your hips.
Danceable, catchy & timeless in not only its sound but it’s subject matter & lyricism.
Well deserved of it’s album of the year when we had our vote for it

On listening to it again I was reminded of a somewhat one sided affair I was involved in.
Aye an affair, a hypocritical one on their part, in which I found out & with myself not wanting to be another number to their own goals.
So this album hit in ways in a living sense, a relationship sense & closeness sense. I felt there was enough material that was directed at me, choosing early on to not be taken as a fool.
Fuck that! Even if some pleasantries appear every so often, they’re still foolish errands in the end

I remember hearing tittering glitches before & was already a Rephlex record listener. But it wasn’t until Feed Me Weird Things that I knew of Squarepusher proper.
This is such a fantastic introduction what would become my life in many ways in music. Seeing the past & hearing what was emerging at the time

It encapsulates much of what I love about making music, that border that can be pushed because it feels correct to you & that you get to let others even listen in the first place. There are few artists that truly inspire me, Squarepusher is one that makes me do better.
Even for 1994 this is just ahead even today. Such a good album
