Mark’s swan song.
And a beautiful one at that.

As a lifelong fan of Mark’s, it’s hard to listen to “I Wouldn’t Want To Say” without getting emotional.

On December 14th, 2016, I travelled out to Los Angeles to the Teragram Ballroom to see The Afghan Whigs perform all of their album Black Love, as part of a series of benefit concerts for their ailing guitarist Dave Rosser, who was suffering from cancer (he’d later pass away).

Also performing at that show was Carina Round, Moby, and Mark Lanegan.
Mark was incredible. The place was pin quiet while he performed; he had the entire joint hypnotized. It was magical. I stood 3 feet in front of him the entire time, and I have the majority of that performance on video.
That was the last time I saw him.
It was a powerful and meaningful night I’ll never forget.
I miss him so much.

Dea Matrona is an Irish rock duo of Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe (they bring in session musicians for recording and touring). Both Orláith and Mollie are excellent vocalists and multi-instrumentalists. During shows they literally swap bass and lead guitars amongst themselves between songs, as well as switch lead vocals. "For Your Sins" is their debut album from 2024.

2018 3xCD Remastered Special Edition

Although I don’t buy many CDs, I COULD NOT pass this up today.

An expanded 80 page book edition of the 2006 remaster, with demos, b-sides, and incredible photos, notes and information inside the book.

The single versions, b-sides, and 154 E.P. is where it’s at for me here. It really is an embarrassment of riches all around, and VERY hard to find. I knew if I didn’t snag it, I’d never see it again.

154 is an incredible album, and listening to the demos and extra material is really mind-opening and informative as to how they got there.
