Lorenzo Musetti batte il dolore e Francisco Cerundolo ed è il primo italiano a raggiungere gli ottavi degli Internazionali di Roma. Il tennista carrarino ha sconfitto l’argentino in due set con il punteggio di 7-6 6-4 al termine di un match molto tirato, caratterizzato dai continui break e controbreak nel primo set chiuso solo al tredicesimo gioco. Ma l’azzurro ha dovuto sconfiggere anche un problema muscolare alla gamba sinistra, visibilmente fasciata, che gli ha provocato non pochi grattacapi. Tant’è che dopo il match-point è scoppiato in lacrime.
“Fisicamente non ero a posto, il pubblico mi ha aiutato tanto – ha confessato – Ci tengo particolarmente a vincere qui”. Quindi ha spiegato: “Per me contano più partite così rispetto a quelle in cui mi riesce tutto: quello che mi è sempre mancato è vincere quando non gioco il mio miglior tennis, non sono nella migliore condizione fisica e mentale.
