Woke up to heavy rain in #Taichung on Saturday morning. Had a blast of a Friday night: first went for an excellent dinner at Holi Indian with a friend from the bike industry, then met with a bunch of buddies (three South Africans, two Frenchies and a Canadian) at iBrew Beer bar for some tasty craft #beer. Went to #Taichung's famous Miyahara store to buy a box of pineapple cakes, then stopped for a short lunch break at a very traditional stall at 2nd market: dry noodles and wontons in spicy oil for NTD 110.- in total, with half a pineapple, chopped up for NTD 50.-. #food #Taiwan #travel #FarEast

Contrasts throughout a day in #Taiwan regarding #food: started with a very typical TW-style breakfast in #Kaohsiung (that food is for three persons), had Ramen as a late lunch upon arriving at #Taichung's Highspeed Railway station and went to an excellent Japanese restaurant for sashimi and a seafood miso for dinner. Life is too short to eat crap. #travel #FarEast

Turns out #Kaohsiung's #Pier2 area has upped its #beer game massively: TW brewers 23Brew have opened a lovely little tap room, and the #BeerTalk beer bar simply is next level. Proper #jazz at a reasonable volume to allow for conversations and more good beers than you could try in one evening. Add peanuts, highly recommended! #Taiwan #travel #FarEast
