L’episodio ha fatto da subito il giro dei social e Luciano Darderi ha ricevuto diverse critiche sui social. Il tennista 24enne italiano è entrato in campo con un paio d’occhiali abbastanza vistosi, ridendo e godendosi il momento di una storica semifinale a Roma. Poi però ha dimenticato di dare la mano a Camilla, una raccattapalle che lo attendeva all’entrata (come sempre capita nei match di tennis). Nonostante la bambina avesse allungato la mano infatti, Darderi non l’ha presa, a differenza di quanto fatto da Ruud, continuando a camminare e salutando il pubblico del Centrale. Motivo per cui a distanza di circa 24 ore dalla sconfitta netta contro Casper Ruud, Darderi si è scusato per l’episodio in questione.
Darderi è stato anche protagonista di una piccola discussione con un tifoso sugli spalti nel finale di partita, sul 5-1, quando qualcuno dalla tribuna ha urlato: “Abbiamo pagato”, in riferimento alla partita contro Ruud.
