NOVI LIGURE (ITALPRESS) – Alec Segaert vince in solitaria la dodicesima tappa del Giro d'Italia 2026, la Imperia-Novi Ligure di 175 km. Il corridore della Bahrain – Victorious ha anticipato tutti con un'azione personale a 3 km dall'arrivo: secondo posto per Toon Aerts (Lotto Intermarchè), a chiudere il podio di giornata Guillermo Thomas Silva (XDS Astana Team). Come da previsione, la tappa è stata segnata dalle fughe di giornata e dagli attacchi da lontano. Jonas Geens (Alpecin Premier Tech), Jardi Christiaan Van der Lee (Ef Education Easy Post), Juan Pedro Lopez (Movistar Team), Mattia Bais (Polti Visit Malta) e Manuele Tarozzi (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber) hanno composto la fuga iniziale, ma le squadre dei velocisti hanno lasciato poco margine di manovra. A 100 km dall'arrivo lo svantaggio si è dimezzato intorno ai 42″, la situazione ha mescolato nuovamente le carte con una nuova fuga composta da Manuele Tarozzi (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber), Johan Jacobs (Groupama FDJ United), Jardi Christiaan Van Der Lee (Ef education Easy post), Jonas Geens (Alpecin Premier Tech), Jonas Rutsch (Lotto Intermarche) e Fredrik Dvernes Lavik (Uno X Mobility). Sulle due salite di giornata si è ricucito lo strappo, a 60 km dal traguardo la seconda azione è stata definitivamente annullata. Sulla salita del Bric Berton i velocisti hanno fatto fatica, a vincere è stato dunque Segaert, che ha beffato tutti. Il compagno di squadra Afonso Eulalio rimane in maglia rosa e guadagna altri 6″ da Jonas Vingegaard grazie all'abbuono del chilometro Red Bull. The Bahrain – Victorious rider anticipated everyone with a solo move 3 km from the finish: second place for Toon Aerts (Lotto Intermarché), who closed the day’s podium with Guillermo Thomas Silva (XDS Astana Team). As predicted, the stage was marked by day’s breakaways and attacks from afar. Jonas Geens (Alpecin Premier Tech), Jardi Christiaan Van der Lee (Ef Education Easy Post), Juan Pedro Lopez (Movistar Team), Mattia Bais (Polti Visit Malta) and Manuele Tarozzi (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber) comprised the initial breakaway, but the sprinter teams left little room for maneuvering. On the Bric Berton climb, the sprinters struggled, and it was Segaert who won, deceiving everyone. Team mate Afonso Eulalio remains in the pink jersey and gains another 6” from Jonas Vingegaard thanks to the Red Bull kilometer bonus.
