The last of the quinces from the tree are in the Instant Pot to be cooked till nice and red, to go with porridge and chia puddings for this week's breakfasts.

Using an idea from #Ottolenghi in #PlentyMore, I am cooking them in pomegranate juice (from my pomegranates) with cardamom, star anise and also fresh bay leaves from the tree (my addition - I have used bay leaves before and they go quite well with quinces and these flavourings).

His recipe is also here (scroll down a bit). I played with it a bit. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/nov/30/yotam-ottolenghi-alternative-christmas-recipes

Also picked today - strawberries (so goddam sweet, shop bought ones just do not compare) and the first quince (juuuust ripe with a lovely aroma - I'll leave the others to ripen up more).

My parents brought me some #quince fruits, and I still have no idea what to do with them – other than sniffing them and taking photos for #FrüchteFreitag. 😄 I've still got jelly and syrup left from the last batch ...
