Little project I've been working on for the past two days. A reverse engineered implementation of the Android Auto server, running on my OnePlus 6 with PostmarketOS. The implementation is incredibly basic, only has basic video, but it's enough to display Sway and firefox :D

Next major step is getting it to work on a "proper" headunit. It works with my generic Chinese portable Android Auto / CarPlay screen but on a proper Toyota headunit inside a 2019 Toyota Aygo it fails somewhere along the way on the authentication chain.

"But but but compared to my Core i9 fighter jet, your old Intel Xeon is slow to compile adblocking lists on the fly! 🧐"

Well, my standard is Firefox (w/ uBlock Origin) that loads those websites in less than 500 milliseconds at all times on the same CPU 🤷

Ideally we need something more efficient for content filters in #WebKit. It would certainly have a big impact for #LinuxMobile processing speed & battery life. Imagine underpowered mobile chips having to bruteforce through this 😬

Hey @signalapp, would it be possible to implement taking photos from within the #Signal #Desktop app?

See this feature request:
https://community.signalusers.org/t/feature-request-take-photo-in-signal-desktop/44829

I use the #Librem5 as my daily #phone with #Signal. Quickly making and sending a #photo from within Signal Desktop is really something I miss.

Feature request: Take photo in Signal Desktop

I’m using Signal Desktop on my Librem 5 Linux phone. I would be great if I could use the cameras of the phone to take photos directly in Signal, just as on the Android and iOS app. I guess access to the camera is already possible, because you can use Signal Desktop for video calling.

@xenons Cool. For the #Librem5 by @purism though there is already a vibrant community here:

Maybe the #Librem5 costs a lot, but I would not phrase it as "too expensive". Keep in mind that #Purism only once earns money when selling the device. No money is earned from selling user profiles or pushing advertisements or apps.

Purism contributed a lot to the #MobileLinux eco system, also on the software side:
- Origins of #Phosh
- #convergence
- upstreaming of #mobile patches to several #GNOME applications and Linux
- Origins of #adwaita
- #PureOS distro
