Instalei o Linux Mint para a minha companheira e ela amou! @linux

E eu também, cara, a UX é linda e funcional! Super intuitiva!

Short answer: Try Shotwell. It's really a photo "manager" but it includes automatic gallery-style viewing features, time-sorted. It should be close enough to what you need! 🤞

Technobabble: I wouldn't call this a "Linux" problem. For instance, the same Linux kernel is part of both GNU/Linux and Android, but the issue is broader: "everything is a file in a directory tree" is how Unix has worked since the 1970s, and all its descendants follow that model — including Apple's desktop and mobile systems. On phones (and dedicated cameras), camera apps save images to well‑known directories and gallery apps read and index those folders. The same method works on any #FreeDesktop environment: keep your photos in ~/Pictures and use, e.g., Shotwell — it will automatically read the folder and show a gallery when you open it if you enable "watch library directory for new files." I hope this info helps your quest.

A new toy arrived in the studio today! The Divoom Pixoo 64, a 64x64 pixel art display that I will be doing a review of. Of course, I had to put Debian on it.

Expect a full review on the channel soon!

For the past two weeks I have been trying to prepare an archive of about 600GB. of family photos, which I have the only copies of, for mailing with a limited budget. I would simply write them to a HDD & mail that if I had one large enough & if I could trust the American postal system to not shatter every platter in it, but all I have are a few USB flash drives which collectively add up to enough space if I compress the whole thing to 544GB. I have been trying to use GNU tar to write the single compressed archive file to a multivolume archive across those flash drives. When I do this, it works, but it also corrupts the file so that it's useless once extracted. Is there a way to prevent tar from corrupting multivolume archives (this doesn't happen for single volume archives as files), or is there another tool for the same job that isn't shit & can output data to stdout on extraction?

I have no space for parity data & I would prefer to create an archive that is accurate in the first place.
