The EU cannot yet provide a robust digital ecosystem that allows people to manage their finances independently from American platforms. Your access to your own money shouldn't depend on Silicon Valley. Neither should your email, searches, or social media. However, banking is the area in which we would first notice.
Europe has lost nearly half of its bank branches since 2008. [1] We've gone digital. This means that access to our money depends on Apple, Google, or Microsoft. That's not digital sovereignty. It's digital colonialism.
