Lilbits: iPad-style multitasking on iPhones, and maybe Lenovo didn’t leak any Android PC plans after all

Last week news started to make the rounds that Lenovo has published a web page spelling out the pros (and many cons) of PCs running Android. But Lenovo has since removed that website and claimed that it had nothing to do with Google’s plans to bring Android to PCs in the future… although it’s unclear why Lenovo published that page in the first place.

In other recent tech news from around the […]

There is a new development report regarding the next release of #PureOS: #Crimson.

PureOS is the #Linux distribution that is the default for #Purism products, like the #Librem5 #privacy and #security focused #phone.

The maintenance of PureOS is an example of the opposite of planned obsolescence.

Give it a read and learn how a hardware product becomes better and better through software updates.

Traveling by train from Netherlands to France. My #Librem5 running #crimson has been serving as a hotspot via mobile data the whole track without any issues. Just short disconnections when passing the borders.

@dos @ati1 @linmob That automatic switching from speaker to handset is only for the Calls app, right?

I was referring to #e2ee voice calls on #SignalDesktop, #ElementMessenger, #DinoIM and #DeltaChat. I did try #PureOS Crimson alpha a few days ago but forgot to test this, so would definitely be interested if there's any news regarding this : )

@Berker @Sxan Community maintained #flatpak version with ARM builds here: https://signalflatpak.github.io/signal/

#SignalMessenger does not allow the desktop version to be your primary device, so mine is #SignalCLI https://flathub.org/en/apps/org.asamk.SignalCli on my desktop, and the L5 is a linked device.

Btw, it looks like official ARM builds of #SignalDesktop will be available soon but for Debian-based distros only.

@Sxan Correction: As @dos pointed out, the Librem 5 camera app #millipixels does record sound in videos - i just retested now on #postmarketOS and on #PureOS Crimson. I think when I tested previously on them, my mic volume must have been low or muted.

So not sure why camera support on L5 is marked as partially working in pmOS devices wiki... Perhaps because apps that don't support libcamera can't detect it? I know Signal I need to plug in external webcam, but other apps including Firefox with Jitsi do detect the camera...

@peja and #PureOS which is one of the few distros endorsed by #FSF and the #GNU Project.
