Rabbi Neil Comess-Daniels didn’t mince words when he criticized Stephen Miller, a senior adviser to US President Donald Trump and a former congregant of his Southern California synagogue, in his Rosh Hashanah sermon.

'Honestly, Mr. Miller, you’ve set back the Jewish contribution to making the world spiritually whole through your arbitrary division of these desperate families at our southern border,' Comess-Daniels said.

The rabbi, who leads Beth Shir Shalom, a Reform synagogue in Santa Monica, devoted his Monday sermon to denouncing Miller’s role in crafting Trump’s 'zero-tolerance' policy, which separates migrant children from their parents at the border.

'The actions that you now encourage President Trump to take make it obvious to me that you didn’t get my, or our, Jewish message,' Comess-Daniels said of Miller."

Reading a book right now where the author, a Jew, claims that we don’t know the name of God.

I find this quite odd since both Jewish and Christian traditions disagree. The Hebrew Bible often says “I am YHWH your God.”

Jews hold such reverence for that name that they won’t even read it out loud replacing it instead with Adonai (lord) or Hashem (the name). The second of which is a clear call out in Jewish tradition that it is indeed his name.

It’s further strange because he doesn’t address the fact that God continually says “I am YHWH.” How can you make your argument without addressing the obvious and repeated statements to the contrary?
