π #introduction
A doer, often "the hard way" β maker-tinkerer-tech-gardener geek with a varied background β #Australian export currently located in England's Norfolk/Cambs #fenlands.
Extending on the bio, topics of interest:
* π±πΏπΆοΈ #growing β mainly on our #allotment, mainly for food; especially: fun tomato & #chilli #pepper varieties. I do an allotment "vlog": https://www.youtube.com/@AllotmentPostcards
* ππππ· #food & #drink β I grew up in the restaurant industry in a wine region, it's baked in.
* π» #beer specifically β beer nerd, started a UK beer wholesale business, coz I'm madβ¦ it failed, coz COVID & Toriesβ¦ now a bit burnt out about beer TBH.
* π¦ #fermentation β keen on #lacto ferments - though lack time & discipline to do it well.
* π» #tech β #Linux user from late 90s, #CompSci & some #engineering at USyd, tech startups, #infosec, *nix, etc, #electronics & #microcontroller hobbyist.
* πͺπ οΈπͺ DIY, general doer & maker, hoarder of tools.
These are mainly what I post about, in fluctuating volume.
A channel documenting Kat and Yvan's fenland allotmenting shenanigans in West Norfolk, United Kingdom (sorta like USDA Hardiness Zone 8b). We're here to show what we're up to, certainly not to claim any expertise β sometimes things we do go wrong, sometimes they work out. The postcards are a vlog of sorts, a missive mainly to family, but also anyone else interested. Documentary rather than instructional. We may also post videos that document specific things we do in a bit more detail, these may be "how we grow" style or "something we built" style. Sometimes videos may be at home where we raise most of our seedlings and also have access to a small greenhouse on the shared grounds of our rental property as well as have one raised bed and some other planting spaces we use.
These two are probably the coolest of the bunch, and go together. These depict the before and after #drainage of the #Fens or #Fenlands in #Lincolnshire, #Cambridgeshire, #Suffolk, and #Norfolk. These #maps show how extensive these works were. One can imagine the ecological consequences that are still impacting us today. /12
