Google has just informed me that I can use a 20% solution of vinegar to kill cleavers. I am curious to see if it works, so I have made some up and sprayed it on a patch of the cleavers in my back yard. If this works, there's going to be vinegar everywhere!

We have both bedstraw and little western #bittercress as "weeds" in our garden. They're lovely native #wildflowers. But I'm ripping out the #bedstraw with extreme prejudice. It can do its take-over-the-world thing out in the wild

And here is what a handful of cleavers roots look like. I shake the soil off and tuck them into a tissue, then in the house I have a paper towel sewn up one side I'm keeping them in.

The maddery-colored parts are the roots, the shiny white bits are stems.
