Just noticed today that the electric Caltrain trains are 7 cars long. I seem to recall that the diesels were 5 cars long. Am I misremembering, or are the trains longer, the cars shorter, or both?

Watching people tackle the “around the SF Bay” mountain bike race yesterday and today has been fun. Rooting for my friend Kurt who is currently in tenth place, I got to shout at him as he road up to the entrance to Redwood Park in Oakland. I can’t imagine doing 250 miles and 24k feet of elevation, much of it on dirt, over two days. Endurance athletes are super human, and also a bit crazy.

#oakland is a very racially divided city, 100 years in the intentional making.

Those lines are highways - look how it isolates us. Imagine if it were a park instead.
