Are you already collecting wireless information like wifi points and GSM antennas for #beaconDB?
Building a #bigtech independent database with such information is important for #DigitalSovereignty.
The #MobileLinux eco system already uses beaconDB for determining the position of devices when there is no #GPS.

I agree that it's not a great solution, but it seems like the only thing we have at the moment. I use both in my SSID's. Yes, I know that my neighbors can see that I'd rather Google / Microsoft don't scan my SSID's, but I see that as a good thing and hopefully (according to their statements) it gets MS/Goog to skip my SSID's.
I wish there was a way I could give access to Beacon but not Google/Microsoft. Although I guess they can still use the Beacon DB, too as the license is more permissive than copyleft, right?

Reviewing the @beacondb project map found a curious entry. Someone recorded data on a direct (!!!) flight from Russia to Germany.
For those who may not be aware, direct flights between #Russia and #EU have been closed since 2022 (#sanctions). But apparently only for ordinary people... Well "everyone is equal before the law, but someone is more equal".
Note: #beaconDB project is a wireless geolocation database aimed at replacing Mozilla Location Services. And it's been around since July 2024.
Attention #BeaconDB contributors!
#Neostumbler 2.0.0 is out, bringing the option to exclude Wifis based on their name (SSID). This is important to exclude mobile hotspots and other moving wifis, that would mess up results.
Also it allows us to respect the "optout" and "nomap" SSIDs, used to prevent scanning.
BeaconDB has the "Common Network Index", copy the contents of these files into the field in NeoStumbler:
