BUZZED BENEATH THE WAVES

- 1 oz lime juice
- ¾ oz orgeat
- ½ oz Cynar 70
- ¾ oz Amaro Averna amaro
- 1 oz rye
- 1 oz overproof Pot Still Lightly Aged Rum ❶

Shake // Open pour // Garnish: grated nutmeg

A bit more bitter for those die-hard Jungle Bird fans. After preparing as directed, snapping the pic, and finally starting to sip I found it way too potent to be over a rock. I'd recommend an open pour over crushed ice. Originally seen on IG onesipclub.

¼ oz maple syrup
½ oz Amaro Averna
¾ oz mezcal espadín
¾ oz Black Blended Rum ❺
¾ oz overproof Pot Still Lightly Aged Rum ❶

Garnish: orange peel
Method: Build in glass, stirring with the rock. Garnish with an orange twist.

Stirring my way through the cold weather. I found it hard to pick out the base spirits. Rather, they intensified the bitters and amaro bringing out strong spicy flavors balanced out nicely by the syrup. I found this one on IG chips_classic_cocktails.

HUMBUG OLD FASHIONED

2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 barspoons humbug spices
1 barspoon maple syrup
1 oz apple brandy
1 oz rye

Garnish: orange peel
Method: Combine all ingredients with ice in a stirring glass and stir. Strain over a large rock, express orange peel, and garnish.

I saw this original from @[email protected] and knew I had to stir it up pronto! It uses a fun combo ingredient called Humbug Spices from Brian "shakerofspirits" Maxwell (see link for recipe). A delicious sipper!

Method: Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain over a big rock, express lemon peel, and garnish.

With fall settling in I'm often looking for more booze-forward cocktails to warm the soul in the evening. Despite the name, this one reads like a tequila old-fashioned (not a Last Word riff). I found this one from @[email protected]

I didn’t have any cherry bitters, so I improvised.

2 oz bourbon (Wild Turkey 101)
3/4 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz amaro (Averna)
1/2 oz orgeat (Fee Bros.)
2 dashes chicory bitters (El Guapo)
3 cocktail cherries, muddled (Luxardo)
4 drops 20% saline

Add ingredients to cheater tin and muddle cherries. Shake with ice and double strain into a rocks glass over a large rock of ice and a picked Luxardo cherry.
