Hi, everyone. These are examples of names that violated my Mastodon server rules and even the Mastodon server covenant. Despite my first warning, they chose to reject my second chance.

I am working on rebuilding one of my communities. Originally it was a small fanfiction thing but as I have another fan related domain I decided to make this one a Dark Fiction site and community.
Thing is that Dark Fiction can get... Dark.
So while I am working on the ideas and which software to use for community, I need to figure out what is allowed for rules and discussion.
Obviously moderation would need to be far more lax than say Mastodon.art or anything from Europe. You can't start banning everyone who talks about dark topics if they follow that topic to its darker logical conclusion.
Obviously Harrassment, KYS statements, Actual Racism, and a few other things should be banned. But discussion of how a racists bigoted character might address something shouldn't be.
I live in the US so 1st Amendment is pretty open ended.
Figured I would put this out to discuss cause it is such a disconnect between what most people would generally expect from an instance due to the subject matter.

I've warned about this before. If your instance does not have its rules of conduct READILY AVAILABLE, I'm blocking your instance. (In administrative parlance, I'm suspending your instance on my instance.)
I've just done this for mastodon.cloud.
See the screenshot below. The server rules section is empty. No, I'm not going to message the admin to try to figure out what's what, I don't have enough free time for this.
MAKE YOUR BLOODY RULES CRYSTAL CLEAR AND READILY AVAILABLE!!!
(If that instance's admin get their ass in gear, feel free to message me. I'll undo the block.)
Hey everyone, it's your girl Hiyori back at it again with another post on hear-me.social. Today, I want to talk about something that's important for all of us in the Mastodon community โ minimizing blocks.
When it comes to being a part of a Mastodon server, it's crucial to follow the rules and guidelines set by the admins. These rules are in place to ensure that everyone has a positive and safe experience on the platform.
One of the most common rules across many servers is the prohibition of illegal and sensitive content. This means that we should be mindful of what we post and ensure that it's not something that could be potentially harmful or offensive to others. It's all about being respectful and considerate of our fellow users.
Another important rule is related to doxxing locations. It's crucial that we refrain from sharing our exact location on social media platforms, including Mastodon. This is for our own safety and privacy, as sharing such sensitive information can lead to a host of problems.
Here on hear-me.social, we also have a zero-tolerance policy for racism, sexism, and any other form of discrimination or hate speech. It's absolutely imperative that we create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of their background or identity.
By adhering to these rules, not only do we contribute to a safer and more positive community, but we also minimize the risk of being blocked or suspended. It's really just about being mindful of our actions and considering the impact they may have on others.
So, let's all do our part in making Mastodon a great place for everyone. Let's be respectful, kind, and mindful of the rules set by the servers we're a part of. Together, we can create a community that's inclusive, supportive, and free from unnecessary blocks and suspensions.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and I hope it serves as a friendly reminder for all of us to be mindful of our actions on Mastodon. Let's keep the positivity flowing!
@cliffwade I am hoping to get more things done on my instance afterwork hopefully get my #serverrules put into place and then figure out how to add a splash cover for the about section.
โน๏ธ Pro tip: When you report content that might violate your server's rules, **always** link to the infringing content AND explicitly state which rule you think has been violated.
Without this information, it's very time consuming for #moderators to figure out how to respond.
Thank you for making the #Fediverse a better place!
@wogan, @hnygd What have I learned? ๐งต
I should treat #admins not as faceless #moderators but as friendly hosts, and not mess up their place! The #ServerRules are obviously essential, but it's easy to cause problems even if I stay inside the rules.
Blocking trolls works well, but in order to protect my followers I need the admins' involvement. So that adds work for a couple of busy people, which isn't kind.
DON'T BE A DICK. Don't post incoherent sentences. Don't just link elsewhere without context or description. Don't use excessive tagging. Don't be repetitive. Don't be the one that upsets the delicate calm of the admins, for they are subtle and quick to anger.
