Reform UK councillor suspended over controversial social media posts

Nathaniel Menday, recently elected to represent the Woodhouse ward on Sheffield City Council, has been suspended from Reform UK while the party investigates social media posts which are said to have brought it into disrepute. Reports indicate that Menday shared images including a Nazi flag and Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf, alongside comments suggesting the UK has a 'subhuman underclass'. A Reform UK spokesperson confirmed the suspension, stating that Menday failed to declare these posts and that the party does not support such views. Menday, who won his seat with 1,987 votes, told The Times that he enjoys 'risky humour' and rejects antisemitism and Nazi sympathies, though he admitted having previously engaged with far-right ideology. Additional posts from a now-deleted account included disparaging remarks about people in the UK compared to continental Europe. Menday’s suspension coincides with similar actions against fellow Reform councillors, including Ken Tranter and Glenn Gibbins, who faced allegations over racist social media content. Reform UK has not provided a timeline for the conclusion of its investigation.
