#Fedi #PSA: My last message garnered a spam from a bot, claiming I would get $$ for posts receiving more than 10 likes.

Any bot offering money for popularity is almost certainly spying on the #Fediverse.

#Fedizens: is there an appropriate response to this kind of action? Yes, I blocked @verifnoootiff at mastodon.world. But who is running it? and why?

neondystopia.world is an instance that values freedom of expression and equity above all else, something that I thought a devout christian like yourself would have valued. After all, Jesus too was prosecuted for his expression. We have fair and equitable guidelines for our users and moderators, ensuring that any reports filed are compared against our own rules and that of the instance the report originated from. We even investigate reports on staff independently to ensure they are peer reviewed and free from bias. We go above and beyond what most do to ensure that we maintain a comfortable and inclusive environment by carefully balancing free expression with fairness and equity. Choosing instead to deal with people on a case-by-case basis rather than blanket banning entire instances.

I don't take slander of our instance lightly, and wanted to leave you with a scripture in hope that you may reflect on your decision.

The team has unfortunately not been able to keep up with the needs of the times - so we are looking for:

#moderators , #admins or #volunteers to help manage this account

we are looking for someone who can:
- accept new followers and reshare mutual aid requests from #Gaza and #WestBank

we dont have a roadmap for what this account could look like, but you are free to think about this account and suggest ways in which we can further help together

this account was created after a similar one was #blocked and removed off of instagram, but we cant manage it alone anymore, since the original team has no capacity to manage this account

we mostly wanted to share aid iniciatives but since many people from Gaza are joining #mastodon it would be great that this account can support at least in sharing #chuffed and other links to aid requests from Gaza

- please feel free to comment in this post or send us a DM if you believe you would be up to the task of managing this account together with other #volunteers.

I have seen a couple posts like the one below. And I worry.

In the best case this is all on the up-and-up, research to provide support.

In the worst case this is a coordinated effort to identify and possibly target individuals/families.

And I want it to be the best case. But social media is not a safe space; this is why we have #mods / #moderators. So please, if you want to be supportive **and** ethical, research how to safely invite vulnerable people.

And do not use Zoom, which records.

I am disturbed that mastodon #moderators have #hidden a #post from someone going by What We Gonna Do Luv [or something like that] #criticizing #feminism as #narrow and #white. While I didn't agree with that at all, I had prepared a #reply #debunking the concept, with a huge #list of extremely #influential #black #feminists - which now will not be seen!!
