The Moqeva are the goblinlike bogeymen of Lashunta legend, whom they warred to extinction back in the Age of the Warrior-Queen. in my ongoing creative worldbuilding exercise so far, two of my characters have met Moqeva. Lady Vaeol met an ancient, crippled relic hiding in a cave in Candares and, after learning its tale, spared its life. Taiase was imprisoned by the Moqeva, where under whatever unspeakable deeds they did, put her into stasis twelve thousand years ago, to be reawakened long after her captors had been expunged.
In legend, the Lashunta ascribe the most abominable sins to the Moqeva: the invention of Moldstorms, communion with the denizens of the Outer Darkness, to say nothing of eating Lashunta and hunting them for sport. Yet what is the truth?

The Lashunta, under Castrovel's almost constant cloudcover, wait 150 days or more for the chance to see the sun, and for that holiest moment to see Burning-Mother's brightness break the horizon, to chase away the cold and darkness and bring light to the world. Is it any wonder they hold this as the holiest time of the year?
