There has been a microcosm of that debate in #ttrpg / #dnd spaces. A lot of gamers want to move away from the "Designated Bad Guy Races" and portray, say, orcs as people like everyone else.

And predictably, there is a fierce backlash against this from other gamers who claim that "I don't want politics in my gaming!" Which, of course, means that they are comfortable with the politics as they are, and don't want to think about them.

(They also don't want to acknowledge that Gary Gygax, one of the founders of the hobby, was a massive racist and misogynist who baked his assumptions into the game, but that's another story...)

The players are in a bit of a sandbox at the moment and I didn’t get a strong sense of next steps. Not sure how I want to set myself up for the plethora of things they could throw my way. 😛

Tonight's #Hammondal writing was particularly scatterbrained: Secrets hidden in public mosaics, cultures joining to battle plague, a Wolf King in exile pretending to be a pet, a dangerous drug beloved by foppish duelists, the spiritual needs of aquaculture specialists, places where mad queer inventors room together, pirate politics intersecting with the Cúndan Duille, and the social stomping grounds of the city's candlemaking vampires. 😅

But that's also why I like city books so much.

Getting frustrated with how long combat is taking in my Stardrive game, and a huge amount of it is stuff like having to remind players how to make an attack roll every round and reminding them which one is the d8.

@WizardOfDocs Is helping me make a info card that will explain the basic how to make a role and have a diagram of all the dice on it, hoping that helps me out

Had a 🌿 thought last night.

When we play a #TTRPG we are just exchanging words but we take those words and see entire people, adventures, words play out in our minds eyes. Like... that's just insane. Even sober it's hard to wrap my mind around it.
