I've been thinking a lot about Lashunta's relationship with nature. If you happened to read yesterday's Chapter 14 of _A Castrovel Adventure: Part 6_ it illustrates a problem of trying to build an advanced civilization.

On reflection, everyone wants to believe they live at harmony with their environment. More realistically, it's almost impossible to occupy an environment without altering it. The question becomes: where does the balance lie?

This is a little how I envision Son (Vaeol's home) to look: a small city that was founded as a stronghold upon a stony height, under a taller peak, which then grew into a temple, and then into a university, where philosophers and psychics hone their arts. Son's glory days passed away millennia ago. It now clings to its reputation as the oldest city of the Lashunta, a pilgrimage destination, and an academic center, where wealthy graduate students from Qabarat may visit on their way to the Hall of Stars, but is otherwise a minor upland city at the head of the Yaro Valley, and trade-stop between the bigger down-valley cities and the Retaea Moorlands. It was the first Yaro city to fall to the Thief-Queens, and the last to be freed, and has always had that connection, both for good and ill, as the gateway to the broad, treeless North.
