I was just informed that a #healthcare #contractor had canceled my referral because I told them that their wait music is #triggering to people who have #hyperacusis
I mean the VA literally just told me that is the reason that was given— I complained about their hold music. It could have been worse, but something so easy to fix⸮
DEI and Die might have something in common, with this #government
Being disabled means planning 30+ minutes extra for getting to an appointment in time and then still end up being late due to a symptom jumping at you at the worst possible time. And then all of a sudden any regular delay like missing a bus or a detour with a train results in you having to wait another month or three until you can give it another try.
Today it's just a haircut I might not get before January thanks to my disability making me miss the bus, the train being delayed to issues with people on the tracks and troubles with the tracks itself. So what.
However, disabilities dgaf about what you miss, so imagine this would be for an ambulatory surgery, a doctor's appointment or simply being at work in time every day.
And every time somewhere in my brain is a voice telling me "Well, you should've planned more time." But no amount of planning ahead is ever going to be enough.

My experience and that of others who are #LivingWithDisabilities is what matters to me most.
As a former engineer, I recognize the intricacies, but as a retired and #disabled person, I don’t care to troubleshoot somebody else’s mistakes for them.
For me- my problems just happened to go away with JavaScript.
If you want to spend your day wrestling with it, have at it. I’m done!

Unfortunately, for some #accessibility is as unimportant to some as #security is to others.
Security and #privacy are things that are important to all of us, not just people who can #read the #Mozilla #website without the need for a #ScreenReader.
