TapType v3.0 is out! This release includes two of the most requested features.
French language support: Full AZERTY layout with a 50,000 word dictionary and all announcements translated.
Traditional keyboard mode: A new way to use TapType without swiping. Every tap types a character immediately. Visible buttons for space, delete, enter, shift, numbers, and emoji are built into the keyboard surface. Word predictions appear at the top, tap one to accept it. Hold and drag to explore keys with no delay. Two-finger tap opens the mode selector through the prediction bar. Enable it in Settings, Keyboard, Traditional keyboard.
The traditional mode still uses the same spatial layout under the hood, so your muscle memory carries over. It just removes the need to learn swipe gestures before you can start typing.
Also new in v3.0: delete by character setting. Up-down swipe gesture for newline. Emoji favourites now use up-down swipe instead of long press. Bug fixes for foldable device passthrough, word deletion after cursor movement, and repeated character announcements. The entire app is fully localized in English, German, Spanish, and French.

TapType is a free Android keyboard for blind users. No visible keys, you tap where QWERTY keys would be from muscle memory, and a spatial algorithm predicts the intended word. Fully accessible with TalkBack.

How do you make a #introduction sound exciting? Don't let @tired_and_wired (Luna) write it.

This account was created by Luna, who had the brilliant idea when spamming her own profile with dog picks and a few memes herself. This idea was inspired by an existing group on Facebook Follow us for described image content, more specifically memes, jokes and the occasional terrible motivational quote. #ScreenReader users never fear, our images will come with #AltText because there's nothing worse than hearing "No Image Description!"

Given this is now released, I'm happy to report that the third-party control client for the Elgato Streamdeck, called OpenDeck, is now a lot more accessible for #screenReader and keyboard-only users.
These devices have always had a huge #accessibility barrier in that the only way to assign an action to a key was through a drag-and-drop interface. Elgato has been notified about this, but proved ... let's say ... less than ehtusiastic to fix it. So, I did.

While I can't claim 100% accessibility, primarily because that isn't a thing, I can say I made sure everything I could find was labeled, and that there's now a keyboard-only way of associating buttons, knobs, and touch controls with actions, something the official client does not, and probably will not, support.

I'll be making a video on the ViewpointUnseen youtube channel with all the details soon.

Let my add this #id Image description for #ScreenReader using people:

Three photos of destroyed or burning cars.

Text above the photos:

"The mass human safari in Ukraine goes on – in full view of the world.

The streets of Kherson and Nikopol have become a target range for russian terrorists.

Three civilian cars have already been attacked today in Kherson.

One dead. Several more wounded."

Can someone help? I'm completely newbie with #reaper and I've imported in it a stem to transpose it. However, I want to listen to a particular track while muting the others. I cannot find the shortcut to solo the track. I'm currently using Reaper 7.33 and OSARA with #NVDASR #screenreader. Thanks.
@SunDancer #CamelCase ist extrem wichtig fΓΌr #ScreenReader.
I was helping an open-source app become more #accessible yesterday and we ran into the problem that it looks like #screenReader Orca has a bit of a tendency to crash when exposed to webkitGTK applications. I've not done Desktop #linux for a long time and have no idea what the workarounds for this would be, does anyone know anyone who might know what's happening here? Do we need to set a random environment variable somewhere or update a specific package so this person can do basic screen reader testing on their app? #tech #openSource #screenReaders #linux #GTK #webdev
I heard from a friend that JAWS would allow the page explorer for more licenses, but I don't see this documented in the March patch. Is it not there yet? #JAWS #ScreenReader

Hi all! I'm considering giving #RSS another try because I haven't been able to find a news app that works well for me. Before I jump back in, I'd love your advice on a few things:

  • What RSS reader do you use and recommend?
  • I'm #Blind and use the #NVDA #ScreenReader, so strict keyboard accessibility is a must. I mainly read on my PC, though a companion mobile app would be a nice bonus. Does your reader play nicely with screen readers?

  • How do you actually find feeds?
  • The last time I tried RSS, discovering good feeds was a huge roadblock for me. Are there directories, search tools, or tricks you use to track down the RSS links for sites you like?

  • Do you have any tips for curation and avoiding overwhelm?
  • I want to avoid the "huge pile of unreads" problem. How do you organize your feeds so they don't require high-energy maintenance?

    Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Hello #accessibility and #screenreader friends! Does anyone *really* use Windows Narrator? I feel like it has too many issues to be worth it. NVDA is so much better, isn't it?
