@stephaniewalter

They are great if placed properly.
Both routes from my home to the town centre include a stretch of narrow pavement with a steep dropped kerb (curb cut in American?).
There is no level section on one, on the other it's about 15cm wide.
No safe way to drive across it, or to turn onto it to cross the road.
They could have put the crossings at wider stretch of pavement.

There is one alternative, driving a longer route that includes pavements in a light industrial area with very steep kerbs, no dropped kerbs, and vans or lorries parked everywhere. I'd have to drive my 4mph chair in the middle of the road.

#NotAccessible

Accessible travel.
No one to get the ramp out at the 1st station.

I asked passengers for help.

3rd train, the one I'm on for nearly 3hrs
The accessible toilet is closed.

I am very slowly making my way through 3 training courses, consisting of several short videos for each course.
The accessible tab takes me to an identical webpage.
The videos have round brightly coloured balls as heads, which bounce around.
I can just about tolerate one video every couple of days but end up irritated and feeling like my mind is itchy.
One of the courses covers Equality law!

This means I need to write another Equality Act complaint.

There is an 'accessible' tab on the learning website at the start of each module - which takes me to an identical page. The only difference is that the tab changes to 'standard'.

I’m usually a big fan of the digital work the UK gov does but making the ID verification a fully automated system with no other way to get verified is not one of those. You then have to rely on calling every department if you fail the ID verification which I have now tried over 15 times. The information I’m inputting is correct as far as I know.

Why is the #USGovernment’s #AmericansWithDisabilitiesAct website #NotAccessible to my #ScreenReader? (No surprise- it was all over the news last year that the #DOJ had been dodging its own #online #accessibility #audit)

I think it’s because people who are #LivingWithDisabilities are #SecondClassCitizens in this country

I can’t believe I forgot to share this!

Did you know that #PeopleLivingWithDisabilities can #speak with a #live person who is #trained in &/or (even better!) living with their own #disability.

They #engage and even #TakeNotes/ #ScreenShare to learn how to forward our needs to their #Apple #engineers.

(Hopefully working on their #WebDesign- it’s #NotAccessible) to #Siri #ScreenReader🤯)

I ❤️ exploring the many #links people share here on #Mastodon. I 🥰 clicking through & discovering the rich selection of content out there.

The #PartyPooper is the link that comes along without #accessibility.

#Websites that are #NotAccessible to a #ScreenReader either appear blank or like an incomplete series of empty cells and spaces.

I’m not sharing that! What I can’t see? What you aren’t willing to share with people #LivingWithDisabilities, like me?

You want me to share but you won’t? 🚫

I went searching for #SupportGroups for people living with #amnesia.

For the life of me I can’t fathom how any entity involved with #healthcare can still do so with a serious face while hosting a #website that is #NotAccessible to a portion of their audience.

Yet, when I visited the #Inspire Transient Global Amnesia #Community website, it is not #accessible to my #ScreenReader.

Don’t just ask yourself who you are #helping with your #design. Ask who you are #excluding.

@gamesense I thought about #reading and maybe #sharing the article, but…

Your website is #NotAccessible. #Accessibility. It’s what’s hot. Plus, it lets us know you (don’t/) #care 💁🏼‍♂️
