Finding a CPU Design Bug in the Xbox 360

The recent reveal of Meltdown and Spectre reminded me of the time I found a related design bug in the Xbox 360 CPU – a newly added instruction whose mere existence was dangerous. Back in 2005 I was…

Don’t let your protection circuit become a decorative component.

If your TVS isn’t placed right, specified right, and backed by proper system design, it’s not protection — it’s illusion.

Read the full deep dive and discover why real engineers design protection first, not last.

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced programmer that's capable of programming AMD PALCE devices? The xgecu ones won't, sadly 😥

When it comes to getting at least close to all my basic needs & wants met in a degoogled smartphone setup, I've got basically the blackberry #Key1 or Key 2, or #Unhertz titan with at least #PostMarketOS with those options having a $200-600 price range, most being $400-500.

Or #Motorola phones and a separate mini keyboard, with #Calyx or #PostmarketOS, with a $70- $700 price range, most being under $250.

On #smartphones heavier for me is always better, so if as I suspect the cheaper option is also heavier, that's another selling point for it.

When an $800-900 item & setup is inferior to a $70- $250 one, this isn't anywhere near a matter of my being too picky, but rather a matter of the ridiculousness of insisting that everyone has the same exact needs!

For the #electronics and #embedded crowd: a concise summary of the hardware design guide for JieLi AC695N/AC696N Bluetooth audio SoCs.

It offers crucial DFM advice: you MUST provide test points for the programming pins (USB, power), as the small QFN package necessitates programming after SMT assembly via a USB connection.
