As far as rerouting and navigation is concerned - the Developer is transparent here: “Definitely true for some specific routes and use cases. Komoot has an entire team of developers working on their own routing algorithms. I'm a solo developer who relies on Mapbox for navigation. There's a lot more I could say there, but that's the gist. Eventually I'll probably create my own navigation system, but it's not in the cards at the moment.”
I contacted app’s developer.
He clarified this was an issue on my side: “ sounds like you paused Cadence for ~29 hours. You started a ride yesterday, paused, and then continued and finished today.”
100% right. This is what happened.
And this long pause period was also the cause of hearth data not being “visible” in Apple Health - the app was paused and didn’t collect any data from the watch.
Too bad I was not aware of that.
This was probably my last ride with #Cadence app.
3 reasons:
1. Today is Tuesday, but Cadence somehow attributed the ride to Monday 🤷♂️ and assumes I was riding for 29h 😅
2. Hearth data is present in Cadence, but is missing in Apple Health 💔
3. Turn-by-turn navigation and re-routing sucks. 🧭
What is The Best Bike Computer App?
I still prefer to use phone + watch combo rather than dedicated cycling computer.
And I am still looking for good apps for that use case.
My current favorites:
1. #AppleFitness - simple, energy efficient, reliable, looks nice, free
2. #Cadence - looks nice, many data screens, quite easy to use while riding, bad navigation features
3. #Komoot - best navigation, route creation, but not focused on cycling data
