You may have seen news of the Linux kernel issue published as CVE-2026-31431, a privilege escalation bug. Most of our infrastructure was not vulnerable. The rest was patched this morning, with no sign of exploitation beforehand.
Only for some VPS users, action might still be needed to mitigate the bug. If you chose to create your VPS with a stock kernel, instead of using our default configuration, the bug could still be exploitable.
Slightly unusually, a fix for this has not landed in the regular updates yet. This means that simply upgrading and rebooting is not enough to fix this issue. For now the simplest mitigation is to blacklist the algif_aead module (where the bug is located), like so:
echo "install algif_aead /bin/false" > /etc/modprobe.d/disable-algif.conf
rmmod algif_aead 2>/dev/null || true
We expect that for the majority of users deactivating this module will have no noticeable impact. Still unsure what to do? Ask us and we'll help you evaluate the risks.
We are officially recognized as a #green #host. This is exciting. You can even check for yourself https://www.thegreenwebfoundation.org/green-web-check/?url=beasts.life
On 30 and 31st of May and 1st of June, representatives from whistleblowing platforms from Nigeria, Indonesia and Mexico visited Free Press Unlimited in Amsterdam. All these platforms derived from Publeaks, the whistleblowing platform that was founded in the Netherlands by Free Press Unlimited with support from Greenhost and Globaleaks. These platforms exist to allow whistleblowers and journalists to communicate privately, anonymously and safely.

Oh btw, about a month ago we handled ~200k visits in a day, ~12 pageviews per second, ~1Gbps bandwidth, on a WordPress site on our infrastructure... without breaking a sweat.
How? Years of polishing our front-end caching reverse-proxy config. Is it #FLOSS? Of course it is: https://git.occrp.org/libre/fasada
Also, thanks and kudos to #Greenhost for hosting our edge nodes.
Point is: no, you don't need #CloudFlare.
