I view #ProtonMail & #TutaMail as 2 somewhat similar systems but meant for different niches.

#Proton is a part of a package, with a digital wallet, cloud storage of files & a VPN, beyond the calendar, address book, encrypted emails & custom Domains.

#Tuta is a stand alone setup, just as Proton once was and it offers more organization of emails & messages at the "Free" level than Proton does.

I don't view either as really "better" or "worse" than the other, rather a matter of what are people looking for beyond a privacy respecting open source project that includes emails, a contact list and calendar.... a wrap around service set or stand alone. Some will definitely want either one & have that as a strong preference, but most won't care much & more than a few will likely have & keep both, as I do.

I really dislike how #protonmail treats their Linux commmunity. Thousand new products, but no love for the basics.

Proton Drive has no GNU/Linux client. No progress on their hyped SDK in months. Most upvoted suggestion on their Uservoice by far: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932839-proton-drive/suggestions/45271456-linux-client

Strangely hidden form "Hot ideas" and not even an acknowledgement from the Uservoice admin.

Proton Drive is pretty useless right now. Thinking about cancelling my visionary plan.

As a reminder, #ProtonMail have admitted they used OpenPGP-encrypted email subjects to moderate their service from illegal activites (under the Swiss juridiction) so they de facto had access to your entire mailbox view, they just couldn’t open your emails.

They have a lame reputation in the infosec field and activists seldom use them for technical and political reasons, despite what they’re claiming.
