I am looking to the disability community for this one!

What are your favourite/most effective ways to manage your chronic pain/chronic health issues/chronic mental health diagnoses/neurodivergencies?

For example, what do you do for chronic back pain? How do you make life easier with ADHD? Whatever your diagnoses, what do you do to make life with them more manageable?

Currently, for pain, I:

-wear upper thigh-high compression stockings
-use heat
-use medication
-rest
-wear braces
-vape/smoke cannabis
-use topical cannabis
-use a power chair
-use other mobility aids
-use special cushions and pillows
-take courses through the pain clinic

Currently, for neurodivergencies and mental health diagnoses:

-see a therapist/social worker
-meditate (must do more)
-breathing exercises (must do more)
-use fidgets
-journal (must do more)
-use noise canceling earbuds/headphones

I need more tools in my arsenal!

Thank you for your thoughts and help 💕

I finally had my spine MRI, and I found out I have an anterior wedge in my thoracic spine with height loss and kyphosis at the top of my spine, leading them to think I may have osteoporosis because these things point to bone density loss.

I also got the call that it's almost my turn to go through the bariatric surgery program.

Never a dull moment when you are a spoonie!

Poor sleep can contribute to a variety of chronic health conditions, like cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It’s surprising how much your nightly rest can affect your daily life and long-term well-being.

As someone with a chronic health disease I've been thinking lots of this lately.

Disruption in supply lines means less fancy things for some people, but for others, its actually a matter of life and death.

As inauguration day draws near, let’s remember that moving to another country isn’t as easy as it seems, especially for those with disabilities. Moving requires a lot of resources that many people don’t have, and not all countries are welcoming to people with chronic health conditions.

Cut Out #Catastrophizing

Constantly imagining the #worstoutcome increases and maintains #distress.

Key points:

- Catastrophizing is thinking the worst possible outcome will happen #withoutevidence to support this thought.
- Catastrophizing is related to #anxiety, #depression, and #chronichealthconditions such as #chronicpain.
- Catastrophizing leads to distress and anxiety and makes you think a #badoutcome is more likely than it is.
