The Visible Voice

This echoes why I don't do FB, but also why I won't use a service where 2 Factor Authentication must be done on WhatsApp
And they respond like I'm the one being unreasonable
Reading https://thatshubham.com/blog/news-audit ( HT @pluralistic ) and I'm astounded.
I had heard of web ad auctions.
I had heard of edge computing.
I did not realize they were pushing their ad auction calculations onto your device!
Knowing this, I think ad blockers are too polite a response. Are there any browser plugins that send them something like a decompression bomb? Or maybe that interferes in the ranking so the cheapest bid is returned as the winner? My device is the one deciding, after all!

A look at modern news websites. How programmatic ad-tech, huge payloads and hostile architecture destroyed the reading experience.

Thousands of people disabled by long COVID seek answers

Six years after the COVID-19 pandemic began, doctors are still treating long COVID patients with complex symptoms and unknown futures.

Los Angeles Times

Millions of people around the world are living with the lasting impacts of Long COVID — a growing public health crisis that continues long after the initial infection.

Long COVID can affect the brain, heart, lungs, immune system, and more, making it harder for people to work, study, care for families, and participate fully in daily life.

This Long COVID Awareness Month, we must bring visibility to the millions of people affected and accelerate research, prevention, and support.

Long COVID can affect many systems in the body. Researchers have documented more than 200 symptoms, ranging from fatigue and brain fog to heart, lung, and neurological problems.

The symptoms shown here are only a small sample. Preventing infection helps reduce the risk of Long COVID.

Long COVID kills. There is no treatment for Long COVID, and the only way to prevent getting Long COVID is to not get COVID in the first place. Wear a mask, filter your air, ventilate your air, and avoid crowded indoor public spaces.  #LongCOVIDAwareness
