@rq4c @EndorNim @ScottishGreens The problem with government of Scotisnd in the Union is twofold: a) too rightwing, b) too remote.

Labour did badly in Scotland after the #Attlee government, because Scots resented the centralisation.

Conditions in Scotland are different to England. Scotland cannot prosper until it govern itself, rather than being a very junior partner to a country with ten times its population.

'dominion' ends with the demise of a collaborationist regime in the #uk following the death of #hitler from natural causes and the ensuing struggle for the succession between #goebbels and #speer . The collaborationist regime contains both 'true believers' such as #enochpowell and #oswaldmosley and pragmatists like #rabutler - while the opposition/resistance is led by #attlee , #bevan , #churchill and #macmillan .

#hughdalton - the first #chancellor in the #attlee government - approved a scheme - still in force - under which assets of cultural value could be lent to or rented back by the owners in exchange for public access. No reason not to extend it .

Thank you for this. I suspect the #uk context in the autumn of next year will be very different . It may be worth remembering that the #attlee #labour government accepted and resettled considerable numbers of #balts and #poles - many of the latter were actually from #ukraine - in the #uk in the second half of 1940s without much difficulty.

There was a period - a few months on both sides of #ukgeneralelection2001 - when #newlabour did look as if it was metamorphosing into a recognisable centre-left government - along the lines of those headed by #attlee or #wilson . However the events of 11th September 2001 provided an opportunity for #blairite #ultras to stop this process in its tracks and indeed reverse it to some extent. We have yet to see which part of the story will repeat itself.

I'm Pam, nearly 64 (at time of writing), from the #Crumpsall (wiki it) Area of #Manchester. I like to talk #politics and #activism . Sometimes I'm controversial, sometimes not. I'm old school lefty. Ie not far left, and not on the right where some pretend to be on the left. I'm probably round about Clement #Attlee or Harold #Wilson or Jeremy #Corbyn on the real centre left but on certain issues it's variable.

I support #LGBT+ issues and like to educate and inform if I know what I'm talking about, or give opinions if I don't know as much as I think I do.

Love Music, but my favourite genres is #rock of all types except Metal and Thrash, particularly from the 1950s to the early 1980s. Favourite Radio Stations are #RadioCarolineFlashback and #BoomRadio with a little #MagicAtTheMusicals

I'm an atheist so will challenge godbotherers from time to time.

Tend to stand with the underdogs.

Interested in lots of things beside.
