Winston #Churchill called his #depression the "Black Dog" — and he fought it with his hands.

At his Chartwell estate, he became an obsessive bricklayer. Walls, cottages, garden structures — he built them himself, brick by #brick.

In 1928, he wrote to the Prime Minister: "I've had a delightful month — 200 bricks and 2,000 words a day." He was Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time.

A wartime leader. A Nobel Prize-winning author. A union bricklayer.
