The C16 is cleaned and reassembled. Not pictured is the filthy Datasette that will be restored at a later date. I haven't installed the diode to allow it to work yet anyway. I'll probably pop that in when I upgrade the RAM.

This was such a satisfying repair. The machine had a blown fuse and a dead CPU. I'm just happy the TED chip was not destroyed as that would have been harder/more expensive to work around.

Last night I spent some time building an adapter to connect the C64 6510 CPU to the C16. I burnt a modified KERNAL ROM image from Andy @ hackjunk.com and was surprised to see I still couldn't access my Pi1541.

Silly me naïvely didn't follow the wiring diagrams for the CPU adapter and just sort of wired the external registers with a "near enough is good enough" approach, P0 to P0, P1 to P1 etc. A couple of the registers are actually supposed to be swapped over.

After correcting my mistake, the C16 boots! I've given the case a wash and pulled the keycaps off. The keyboard fully works but it is filthy.

To do:
Clean keycaps and reassemble case
Install diode for cassette motor line
Look into modding to increase RAM to 64k
Clean and repair datasette and joystick
