My father is a prosecutor and every year he brings up the fact that Fathers Day is the day with the lowest crime.

I think that says a lot about how many dads commit crimes throughout the year, but can't today because they are too busy being celebrated.

#Celebrate! For I have made it through another week without having to murder a customer or site manager!

You'll note I am not saying anything about light maimings.

14th Anniversary!

A few days ago we marked 14th anniversary of the Court Guinness website in its WordPress format.

The very first post after a standard “Welcome to my website” post was the first in what would be a long list of posts about the NHS most of these being unfavourable to said organisation.

Prior to this, the website was a plain HTML holding page knocked up in under 5 minutes and had been this way for the previous 8 years. Lucky to get 2-3 visitors a month it was time for a change!

This started a trickle of visitors to the site and this gradually increased as did the posting levels. Only 2 pages were available to start with. A page of posts and a contact form.

The component base changed too over the years. This site has hosted a magazine, a shop, a members networking site, a jobs board, an events calendar, a download section, podcast, a support desk function and a few more items. At its height, there were over 22,000 items of content on this site. There are now just over 12,000 items of content here.

These days there is just a lot of content, my podcast and some downloads on the site which has moved from being hosted on fast high-quality servers to WordPress.com. WordPress.com does a fantastic job of hosting this website and I am grateful to them for their support.

From a small trickle of visitors 10 years ago this site now averages just over 45,000 user actions a month (month average since 2020). Since 2020, we have recorded a low of 2,850 user actions and a high of over 140,000! We are now currently winning overing over 100,000 per month! I am delighted with these figures. I have also picked up a number of stalkers over the years too! I must take this opportunity to thank every reader and regular visitor over the years for taking their time to visit and also to let them know that this is very much appreciated. I have enjoyed working on this website and I will continue to do so.

So what for the future of this website? Well, I will continue to keep it updated and maybe in 10 years’ time, we will be celebrating the 24rd Anniversary of this site! I doubt that functionality will change from the current base but we will see. One thing is nearly for certain. It is highly unlikely that this site will migrate away from WordPress. I am delighted with their platform and I have been delighted to be a WordPress user for the past 15 years and more.

I should like to close by taking a final opportunity to thank all of the readers and regular visitors once again for their support of this website over the past 14 years.
