I hope the ant is visible at this level! I've done some excessive sharpening here and some dodge and burn. I've cropped this one to 16:9 to add some "dynamic" move to the shot (and reduce the black background a bit). Originally, the image isn't colorful as much, but as the processing goes on, with some saturation here and there, things get colorful further more.

Wandering.

Another one in this mini series, with ant devouring the poor mint flowers 😞
One of the mistakes that I've done during this short experiment (took about 10 minutes) is that I didn't use auto-ISO, so there was a bit of struggle. later on, I've discovered as well that for some reason beyond my understanding so far, Yongnuo's macro flash doesn't fire despite the "ready" light being on. This flash actually allows for external power source just like a regular speedlite, but for a quick experiment it would have been cumbersome to carry around, specially while using my hands to move the camera.
I'm not processing all the images here; there are many that are random, so I'm skipping them for the moment, I might come back to them later.

Devour.

So, I made few humble shots last night using my long forgotten 100mm macro lens. The only reason that made me use it right now is, well, I was lazy to assemble a macro gear. This said, though, I've truly underestimated the capabilities of this lens.
Since I've used 100mm, with a proper filter thread (58mm), I've thought to myself, why not use my relatively new Yongnuo macro flash? Since I got it last year and it has not put to some good use (because back then I was trying to fit it with a reverse lens gear). Having this flash on (despite being bulky) made things quicker and easier to shoot without a tripod. Thus, I've fixed the magnification of the lens to the max (1:1) and used my hand to move for- and backward when shooting; with f/11~f/16, missing the focus was a bit forgiving. I'm planning on another round, but using extension tubes to reach over 1x magnification, so we'll see.

It's obviously break time at work. I wonder what they're discussing?

Can you see the tiny ant peeking out from underneath the petals?
