

Thoroughly useless #atari8bit analog thumbstick test.
For the life of me, I can't find 1MOhm thumbsticks (or even 100K). Looks like 10K is the standard for controllers nowadays. An Arduino reads the 10K pot and sends a delayed pulse to trick POKEY into thinking a paddle controller is connected.
This is mostly working... mostly...

I have very fond memories of playing Draconus on the Atari 800XL.
But those memories are a bit spoiled now after discovering Metroid was released 2 years prior.
Though the NES had a technology advantage (released 4 years after the Atari 800) the game design aspect of Metroid is in a league on its own.
Now I wonder how closely the experience of Metroid could have been replicated in the Atari back in the mid 80s.
