I wish I was surprised.
But when you’ve spent a career dealing with bullies, you stop expecting good faith & start recognizing chaos & threats for what they are: a distraction & a power play.
This 35% tariff threat isn’t about fairness. It’s not about security. It’s about greed & domination.
This is autocratic behaviour plain & simple.
The answer? Don’t flinch. Don’t fold. Don’t bend or bow. We will meet it with calm resolve & strength.
He doesn’t get to define us.

So Bluesky is about to require people to verify their age, which means sharing their real identity. I’ve no problem with people knowing my identity but then I’m not trying to hide from abusers. Or explore my gender. Or be a whistleblower. Or protest without getting arrested. Or or or… there are so many reasons people need anonymity.

Despite being myself online I am not keen to show Bluesky my scanned face or my bank card. So I guess I won’t be sticking around there.

I gave my advice before I left, which was “Switch to Mastodon, nobody there cares who you are, as long as you’re funny.”

Today is a good day to say thank you to all Saskatchewanians. On this day in 1944, Tommy Douglas became the seventh Premier of Saskatchewan, elected on the promise of #UniversalHealthcare for the province. IMO, Douglas, with his early life experience and education, was the right person at a specific moment in history, and it's not hyperbole to suggest we wouldn't have universal healthcare without his leadership.

@fesshole In lockdown my human started mimicking my meows, and having 'conversations' with me. He now meows constantly, and has developed the most obnoxious sound possible for maximum attention. I broke him.

Big news! I've nearly made a hundred pounds from Vinted! Granted I've had to sell everything I ever owned and had to walk a mile and back to Sameets 40 or 50 times, but hooray!

It is frankly obnoxious that portal.office.com now redirects to a Copilot page with no direct link to Outlook, Word, etc. (you know, Office...).

You can get to Outlook under "Apps" - silly me for not immediately understanding the UI change.

@malwarejake Microsoft board, maybe: "Look, we cannot get people to buy this thing, so lets just change everything to point to it so that we have numbers that make it look like people are using it. Who cares if it breaks years long workflows, documented processes, common practices, or everybody's guidances"

@malwarejake Hur Hur Hur... this change is having a hilarious impact where I work.

Our Internet Gateway provider has designated Copilot as AI, and our Internet Gateway settings are to restrict people from being able to browse to services marked as AI unless explicitly allowed.

So many support tickets coming in 🤣
I've told the team responsible for the IG to just allow Copilot on the default policy, but they're being adamant that they shouldn't allow it (I've no idea why...) despite us *giving* certain people Copilot licences.

@malwarejake these are the same people who renamed MS Office to MS 365 Copilot

I recommend looking for alternatives before rather than later :-)

I've started using my apps.microsoft.com, it's not the same as the portal was but it's also not copilot.

Don't get me wrong, copilot is our approved AI offering and I do use it, but it's not my main tool and I don't want it in my face all the time.
