Patrick HadfieldI was just buying some music on BandCamp. Several CDs worth.
Four CDs were processed, and then BandCamp said it couldn't proceed with that credit card.
Then I got a message from MasterCard telling me there had been "unusual behaviour" on my card, and that they had suspended it.
Reader, me buying music on BandCamp is really NOT unusual! Just the opposite.
Proof once again that there is hope for humanity if their algorithms are that good...!

Megan Lynch (she/her)I was looking at a poster session today and saw a poster with "very professional-looking" illustrations that I suspect were done by Gen AI.
There really ought to be credits/cites for illustrations in posters and papers. Preferably for humans, but even if you're using thieving AI.
That it's not traditional to provide them seems to me part of STEM's undervaluing of the work of creatives which led to the march of automated plagiarism we're now suffocating in.
