At the #ASAANZ conference at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, in my capacity as Associate Editor at #AmericanEthnologist, I participated in an academic publishing workshop with Susan Wardell (poetry editor at #AnthropologyandHumanism) and Lorena Gibson (@lorenagibson, editor at #CommoningEthnography). Facilitated by Courtney Addison. Photo by Philip Fountain. Thanks ASAANZ for the invitation! @anthropology #anthropology #academicpublishing #anthropologyjournals

Thank you Dr Sereana Naepi for facilitating today’s talanoa on social justice pedagogies! I’ve written a blog post to share the assessments I used in the Anthropology for Liberation course I teach: https://anthropod.net/2022/11/17/anthropology-for-liberation-assessments/

I am grateful to everyone who shared their knowledge & experiences on Twitter, in blogs, & in person, and to our wonderful #anthropology who help create a space for critical conversations about #grading and #pedagogy

#Etangata A vital Sunday morning read. "Our Crown agencies are now interested in the role that Te Tiriti and mātauranga Māori have to play in responding to extremism. But I’ve not yet heard any agency be brave enough to say they want to understand and respond better to colonialism" - @tinangata Tina has shared her presentation from the 'Countering violent extremism & terrorism' #ChchTerrorAttack Hui last week #Aotearoa #Colonisation #Antiracism #ChchTerrorAttack #NZTwits https://e-tangata.co.nz/comment-and-analysis/tina-ngata-to-tackle-terrorism-start-with-colonialism
Tina Ngata: To tackle terrorism, start with colonialism - E-Tangata

"The forces that brought us here today are no less than pure, distilled, concentrated colonial entitlement. Colonial violence is not an accessory to this conversation — it IS the conversation." — Tina Ngata.

Hi everyone! This is my new #introduction post because of the influx of new tooters and my other one was out of date.
I'm a #Māori #writer of fiction in #NewZealand. Right now I'm working on a #YA cli-fi novel which is turning into my fucking nemesis; it hates me and the feeling is mutual. I also do a bit of #screenwriting - one of my books was optioned for TV and we're in script development which is kinda cool!
I like #plants, #zombies #fantasy #scifi and #truecrime.
Hope to see you round! Xx
