I'd forgotten the Mövenpick's chief gimmick - a chocolate hour every day at 4pm. There are some very excited kids hanging around this chocolate fountain. Ah well, nothing wrong with an innocent pleasure.
Turns out that Wellington is introducing contactless credit card payments on its public transport… 4 days after I leave the city. So I've had to buy a Snapper card for the first time (previously I've been in walking distance of everything, or had taxi vouchers given to me).
Underlines how inconvenient this sort of system is for travellers, compared to contactless credit card payments: you have to find somewhere that will sell you a card (took three goes today), read up on how the system works so you can estimate how much credit you might need, and no doubt leave town with unused credit you will never get back. Bring on the new system (and in Melbourne too).
A very good thing about New Zealand - they know how to make a proper long black. Nice. (This is at my old haunt, Fidel's.)
