#Journal of a very emotional and exhausted Dutch Pixy
(Thursday, 01/01/2026).
Well, my "day" had started, or kinda kept going, after the clocks rang twelve times. I hugged and kissed my parents, and also little Bas. 🐾 My mum and I went outside to watch some fireworks. I felt myself getting emotional... 😔 I packed my things, and around 0:15, Skoosh and I slowly started to try and get home safe and all that.
Some young guys with fireworks saw me coming. They quickly cleared the street crossing for me, I waved thanks, they waved back, and Skoosh and I skedaddled onwards. There were some people and fireworks in a few streets, but when I got to the main roads, it was all good to go. Seeing the fireworks made me very emotional. Starting this new year with my parents, but actually, starting it alone... 😢 Driving home alone. No furry love on the backseat. Just me... I cried a lot while driving home. Heck, I even cry now while writing this...
There were some folks and fireworks when I came into town. They made a way for me, and I was able to get to my home, where the parking was clean and rather deserted. I parked, unpacked Skoosh, and got inside. I sorted out my things, and then I headed to the couch. I was hoping for a snooze on it, with a favorite movie in the background. But, even though I was rather tired, my brain wasn't too into it yet.
I got my laptop and worked a bit on my blog and such. When I noticed the firework sounds got less, I tried again for some sleep. I managed to doze of, but a little less than an hour later, there was a bang again that woke me up. I worked some more on my laptop, trying to relax as much as I could.
I managed to get a few blog posts done, which felt good. Then, I got my Kobo and I read for a while. After a bit, I felt like I needed to move some. I headed upstairs and rode my bike for half an hour. After that, I started the washing machine. I ate a bit while it was doing its job, and then I hung the laundry out to dry. After that... I mainly lay on the couch and kept reading, trying to relax as much as I could...
When the neighbor texts me that the black 🖤 fluff was ready to try some walkies, I got his snacks and headed out. We had a nice walk. After that, I got ready to get to bed. There had been several weather warnings already for the next night, so I already anticipated that it may be safer not to head to the gym. But first, some sleep.
It didn't take too long to doze off. Woke up about two hours later for the loo. Got back to bed. And when I woke up again, I was startled when I saw the time. I had not set an alarm, apparently, and it was 0:30! I had managed about 9 hours of sleep..! Wow! So, I quickly got up and started my "day".
