I see this effort as a perfect successor to the postmarketOS wiki tables, which relied on manually filled support levels.

It enables tracking across all distributions, different kernel versions, and patchsets.

It’s simple: you run a diagnostics app, and at the end, you can upload the results for everyone to see.

What are the real blockers to Linux/Alt Android phone adoption? I'm asking out of a sense of curiosity, not of criticism. If you are someone doing the work, and have insight I'd love to hear it!

It seems the existential challenges are:

1. access to hardware and the rate at which hardware changes
2. Access challenges exist on the telecomm side
3. The Android rug-pull by Google

Current state seems to be:

- Motorola and GrapheneOS are partnering which is exciting but Graphene still has some existential risks on the back of Android

- PostmarketOS seems like a great org but a fair way off from non-technical user adoption / a single fully functioning phone

- Ubuntu Mobile only works on a handful of devices (though the Volla phone is interesting)

- Pine phone struggles in specs

Thank you @furilabs team for making a phone with good battery life. Just did a 75 minute workout on my indoor bike and logged it all with the #FLX1 Only lost just shy of 20% while connected via bluetooth to my earbuds, heart rate strap, indoor bike. Playing music in gapless, browsing the web in firefox and jotting down notes, processing the hr/bike ble packets and displaying them in my workout app. Great not having "range anxiety" on #mobilelinux hope more devices follow

Speech input is one of the missing features in #Phosh's stevia. I had looked at several possible solutions but didn't want to pull in a ton more dependencies into stevia itself.

While looking for something completely different I stumbled onto #vosk-server which runs fully locally but can be talked to via websocket and so I could punch that into the prototype I had already alying around (video has audio):

Looks like there are still lots of little problems. But considering the limited resources the project has, I hope they can get proper EU government funding. It might be our escape from the Google/Apple duopoly.
