*To clarify, I'm looking for translators *on Fedi*, mainly so I can meet a new group of interesting people with thoughts on translation and language. I'm not looking for translation companies off of Fedi at this time -- although I appreciate the generosity of people who have shared recommendations.

I do translate, but it's all for my own work (i.e. English-language translations.of old German folk tales).
And I don't really do commissions.

My background is in computer science and maths and I would *love* to do more maths translations (or proofreading), and more work in LaTeX (a system commonly used for writing maths), but I don't get asked to do that much.
Meantime, I've built up quite a good expertise in construction/civil engineering, and railway/railway vehicles, as well as more general "technical" topics.

@ShaulaEvans Swedish/Danish/Norwegian and French to (UK) English. I work on almost everything except legal, financial and medical (which just don't interest me) – currently doing a lot more literary stuff, somehow. But things I've done a lot of are archaeology, TTRPGs, personal development, cookery and – a big personal favourite – technical specifications for things like bridges and tunnels. I really love my job!

I'm a translator, with well over a decade of continuous experience in the industry, and almost two decades total. I translate EN-PL-EN. My experience is a bit eclectic, I've translated everything from marketing texts to technical specification documents to books on close-up magic, of all things.
I'm definitely more than willing to work in translation again.
Also, Alicja is every bit as good as much more experienced full-time translators. Her two-way skill is top quality. She definitely has the chops for the task.

I used to work with a technical translation company in Leicester, they specialise in German <> English but can work in almost any language pairs.
Their specialism is Engineering, Electronics and Environmental but, again, are happy to look at almost anything.

I did a year of school in France, and took Arabic private lessons for a year with a wonderful teacher from Lebanon.
I can still read and write a tiny bit, but the classes offered were very basic, and I didn't learn much vocabulary at the time.
I had always hoped to pick the studies back up but my life took a different turn towards different language families.
At this point, after tackling several "hard" languages, I'm focusing on learning within the groups I know.

@ShaulaEvans I'm old! :) I've done a bunch of stuff, which your amazement is making me feel a lot better about, truly. I was a systems administrator for 25 years... been married & divorced twice... never broken a bone... had a stroke at age 50... I have an extremely good ear... what else can I tell ya?

@ShaulaEvans i was a translator for over 17 years and quit only a few months ago. at this point it's not likely that i'd do that job any more (or perhaps just as a side hustle if i happen to have time and interest in the future), but of course translating is still part of what i am.
nowadays i teach at a university and am doing phd — not related to translating but linguistics anyway.
so, i'm not looking for job opportunities, just wanted to say hi.
I've been working in German- and Spanish-into-English for nearly 20 years. I've been certified in DE>EN by New York University and the American Translators Association, and I've got an MA in translation studies. I'm also currently taking a court interpreting course so I can hopefully get certified to do that (ES<>EN) in the next year or two, though interpreting is really a new thing for me.
I've done a lot of legal translation over the years, but also a bunch of technical and academic (various) work as well. Hit me up. I could talk about this stuff all day long.
