I translate plays, prose, film subtitles, etc. I also edit, and esp love editing translations in collaboration with the translator.

I think this means “I’m not alone,” but can’t figure out why the “ja” is there. Would it not make sense if it said “Ich bin nicht allein”?

Hmmm... I've had my attention called to Kindle's automated translation service. There are presently only two translations available: German to English, and English to Spanish.
Spanish translations would open up a LOT of markets. But I'm not sure that any of my books, except maybe Becoming Real and perhaps Agency, are actually good candidates for auto-translation. I think nearly all of the others make extensive use of words or names—or both—from other languages.

I certainly wouldn't want to release one for sale without having a Spanish-bilingual reader review the translation for me first. And frankly, if I want one of my books translated, I would MUCH rather a human translator do it.
