Update on the soup. Apparently carrots need much longer at 185 than butternut squash. Fortunately I can hold it at that temp until both are ideally done. Unfortunately I’m eepy πŸ˜‚ #soup #soupmaking #soupposting
Making some chicken soup today and because I’m extra, I’m cooking the beans, vegetables and chicken separately at different temperatures with the beans on stove, the chicken in the sous vide at 155. Then I’ll do the vegetables with the beans at 185 and add the chicken back in. #soup #soupmaking #soupposting

I met this wonderful #Japanese woman who was telling us that in her culture, most soup stocks are made with fish parts & seaweeds. She wanted to learn how to make different types of soup stocks that aren't as common in her culture. I loved talking to & working with her 😊

Genuinely terrifying making soup with one eye, had to go with a small knife for chopping and the peeler as far from my fingers as possible.

I'm trying a new to me ingredient in soup. Courgette! Or Zuchini. I had an old one so peeled it and threw it in. Well see what the soup is like soon enough.

So, carrot, celery, courgette, leek and a couple of veg and chicken bloopy stock pot things. Thyme, garlic powder, onion granules, salt, mild chilli powder. Hot water.

We shall see if I get soup thrills or soup chills, when the soupmsker has done it's thing. Hopefully at least I tolerate it. We have tinned soups if need be.
