Planted 4 rows of carrots in the tomato bed today. The basil in here was a bit unruly for getting to the tomatoes since it was left to flower for the insects. The basil sprouts were plucked and put in the tomatillo bed.
I like to cook carrots by simmering them in a covered pot for half an hour with two pats of butter, a quarter cup of brown sugar, a teaspoon of salt, and cold water to cover. They're incredibly delicious.
But yesterday I decided to substitute granulated maple sugar instead of brown sugar.
Big mistake. Nowhere NEAR as good. I won't do that again.
