Started reading a random compilation of 1969-70 #scifi short stories that I bought while trying to keep #bookstores in business during the worst of the #quarantines - first one in the collection has the main character being a professional puppy murderer as a child, and being essentially a pathological killer while also being a hero and the ideal military officer. My dad didn't live to see #covid, but damn, I've thought about that every single day since March 2020 and how much I wish he'd been right.
